If you have started to browse bridal salons, one of the first questions you might be asked is what silhouette do you prefer? More directly, what shape gown do you like. Closely fitting your body from the shoulders down and expanding around the thighs or knees, or fitted at the top with a big whimsical bottom like a ball-gown, or maybe straight from shoulders to floor. Because there are so many gowns in each silhouette, having an idea of your dress type is a great starting point for a stylist to begin assisting you in finding your dream gown.
Once you have chosen your gown, usually the thought will move towards, "What will my bridal party wear?" Today, the choices for the bridal party is almost as broad as the bridal gown. Designers have really made bridesmaids attire more fashionable and complimenting, keeping in mind different body types, using fabrics that are more forgiving than ever before and creating styles that the bridal party might actually not mind wearing and could possibly wear again. Your gown sets the tone of the wedding and for sure you won't be overshadowed, but you certainly want the bridal party's attire to compliment and convey the style of the wedding you've dreamed about.
We have chosen a few of the most popular silhouettes and found bridesmaids gowns to match. Take a look!
Ballgown-Fitted bodice to the waist and flairs out at the skirt.

Sheath-Narrow and straight from top to bottom. This shape elongates the body.

Mermaid-Fitted in the bodice, waist and hips and flairs out close to the knee.

A line-The bodice is fitted but has a gradual out flow from the waist down giving the shape of an upper case A.
